Season 1 edition for the Global client, adapted from the TW / KR guide. Global‑specific updates will follow after launch.

Spirit Master (the game calls it Elementalist; KR 정령성, TW 精靈星) is a genuinely good multi-dimensional class. It's fun to play and fun to theorycraft: it supports multiple builds and setups, all of them strong, with very few weak points. It performs in every type of content: PvE, 1v1, group PvP, and large-scale PvP. It has some of the highest potential in the game if you want to sweat, and it still works played casually. That range is exactly what makes it multi-dimensional.

Tier lists keep grading the class C or D. That's misleading. Those grades rank classes per mode in isolation; Spirit Master's case is that it is strong in all of them at once. Played casually, the whole package is a solid B+ class; fully mastered, it is without a doubt an S‑tier all-rounder.

Identity: a tanky mage with a cerebral PvP playstyle. This is not a burst class. It's a kiting class you play with strategy, and PvP success comes down to extremely good timing on what to use and when. In PvP you can run tanky builds or damage builds and both work extremely well. In PvE the floor is casual-friendly, but reaching maximum damage means mastering uptime on all your buffs while rotating your skills correctly.

Who is Spirit Master for? Players who like a challenge and like having options in gearing, skill setups, and combos, and who want to play strategically in PvP. In PvE it fits both people who want that same challenge and people who just want to play casually.

This guide was written after reaching 700k CP, and after testing the class across different variables: PvP against different classes, different setups in different conditions (including ping), and different gear.

How this guide reads: each chapter opens with how the class works in that mode; Builds then holds each build, its planner link at the top and the choices in tabs, with the reasons inline so nothing has to be followed blindly. Hover or tap any underlined skill name or icon to see its description and specializations.

PvE Build

  3. 1.3Builds

1.1How SM works in PvE

The highest damage output comes from Elemental Fusion and the spirits, primarily Summon: Ancient Spirit and Summon: Fire Spirit.

Spirit damage is not fixed: a spirit's damage depends on your stats and buffs at the moment of summon (the snapshot rule). That makes basic-attack weaving the core skill expression of the class: keep 5 stacks of the Earth Tremor attack-increase buff (대지 진동, the basic attack) at 100% uptime, and time every summon inside it. Summon without the 5-stack buff and your spirits lose a large chunk of attack, which costs you a large chunk of your total damage.

Fire Spirit gets the most uptime. Of the base spirits, Fire Spirit deals the most damage, so when rotating through spirits summon Fire Spirit last: it stays out dealing damage while the other spirits' cooldowns come back.

Why the weave is free, and when it isn't. The basic attack can be animation-canceled and woven between every other skill, so keeping the 5-stack buff up costs you no cast time and no core DPS skill. In theory. In practice the weave is very ping-dependent: reaching the class's ceiling wants 80%+ combat speed and under ~50 ms ping.

The DoT & debuff layer. Spirit Master runs a lot of damage-over-time effects that also debuff the target to take more damage, chiefly Jointstrike: Corrode and Jointstrike: Curse. With enough cooldown reduction the Corrode DoT reaches 100% uptime, which is a large DPS increase on its own.

1.2Where skill levels come from

  1. Lv10Skill points
  2. Lv14First four daevanion boardsNezekan, Zikel, Vaizel, Triniel
  3. Lv20+Gear and arcanasNo cap at 20

Every skill can be leveled to 10 with skill points. The first four daevanion boards (Nezekan, Zikel, Vaizel, Triniel) raise your base skill level to 14. Everything past that comes from gear and arcanas:

  • Active skill levels (+1) roll on rings, weapon, and guard.
  • Passive skill levels (+1) roll on all armor pieces, earrings, and necklace. That is ten slots: helmet, torso, shoulders, gloves, pants, boots, cape, necklace, and both earrings.
  • A Legend arcana carries four skills, at +4 / +3 / +1 / +1.

There is no cap at 20. A skill climbs as high as you can stack levels onto it, and the passives run far ahead of the actives because all ten gear slots can roll the same one. What limits you is slots, not a ceiling; a roll spent on one skill is a roll not spent on another.

In practice that splits two ways. Actives reach 20 by taking +4 from arcanas and +1 from each ring: 14 + 4 + 2 = 20, which is the target for the three PvE musts. Passives ride every armor slot that rolls them, which is what carries Mental Focus to 32 and Spirit Strike to 31 in a finished Season 1 set.

Brief

Most of the damage comes from Elemental Fusion and the spirits. Everything in this build serves the snapshot rule: buffs up, Earth Tremor at ×5, then summon. Three actives are hard Lv‑20 musts.

  • RMB skill lineT

The stacked skill line that ships on right-click moves to T, since RMB is now busy holding the macro. This guide calls it the T line.

  • Dismiss all spirits`

Bind the key that unsummons every spirit to the grave key, left of 1: all spirits come off with one press.

PvE Season 1 BiS skill bar
The PvE skill bar and stigma loadout (Global, 2026-09-29). Levels shown are the author's current gear, not the targets.

Reading the bar

  • Line 1, spirit spam + Jointstrike: Corrode. Corrode sits right after Water Spirit because the highest-DPS hit of the Corrode jointstrike is the Water Spirit joint skill. Fire Spirit sits last so it has the most uptime.
  • Siphon: sustain, and a shield when needed.
  • Jointstrike: Destructive Attack: use on cooldown, but never at the cost of Earth Tremor stacks or an Elemental Fusion proc.
  • Buffs + Ancient Spirit line: the buffs sit before Ancient Spirit because any spirit summon inherits the buffs active at the moment of summon.
  • T line: stacked by damage output, with priority on Elemental Fusion.

Rotation

Opening

  1. Always open with the buffs + Ancient Spirit line: Flame Blessing → Enhance: Spirit's Benediction → Summon: Ancient Spirit. Buffs land before the summon so the snapshot catches them.
  2. Spirits + Corrode line spam: get the base spirits out and the Jointstrike: Corrode DoT running.
  3. Start your macro and settle into the two-hold.

Ongoing

  1. Keep rotating your spirits. Elemental Fusion sits in the macro, so it fires the moment it comes up.
  2. Re-cast your buffs as soon as they're available. Don't hold them waiting for Ancient Spirit.
  3. Keep the basic-attack buff at ×5 at all times. It's okay to delay a spirit summon for an extra Earth Tremor.
  4. 100% uptime on Jointstrike: Corrode: triggers the moment it comes off cooldown. (Requires 33% cooldown reduction)

Watch for

  • Ping

The weave wants 65%+ combat speed and under ~60 ms. Use scrolls.

  • Snapshot

Never summon Ancient Spirit without the buffs up: the spirit retains all buffs you have at the time of summon.

  • Earth Tremor

If the ×5 buff is about to fall off, an extra basic attack beats the next summon.

Genus Insight

Shared by every buildGenus Insight is account-wide and always on: every build runs these boards, and re-rolling a slot changes it for all of them.

In Season 1, focus on one genus set to get its boost fast. Prioritize Accuracy, Attack and Endurance, which help in PvE and PvP. On the Global client every slot rolls from a fixed stat pool, and none of them has Double Chance: slots 2 and 8 can only roll defensive stats, so they take HP increase, and slot 4 takes Damage Boost. Cogni, Fera, Natura and Variant share one setup; Special keeps Attack Bonus wherever it can roll (slots 1, 4 and 5).

Manastone sockets64Not in the sums. The Soul-binds tab ranks which stats to socket.

How to read it: min–max per source, summed over every slot that adds the stat, so a piece worn twice counts twice. Slots counts every source entry behind the stat: soul-bind lines, Genus slots, Daevanion nodes, titles, Pantheon items and arcana cards. Arcana set bonuses, wings and manastones are not included, so this is a sum of the listed sources, not your character panel.

  3. 2.3Builds

2.1How SM works in PvP

Spirit Master is more of a kiting class, but it also has a good amount of burst with Elemental Fusion. Even though it's a DPS class, Spirit Master's passives make it by far the most tanky of the ranged DPS classes. It doesn't have the mobility of a Ranger or the burst of a Sorcerer, but it has the defenses and crowd control to compensate.

Playing PvP with Spirit Master relies on knowing your enemy's skills so you can time your own. Use them too late, or too early, and it will most likely cost you the fight.

Your most notable tools

  • Fear (Curse of Despair, Soul's Cry, Cry of Terror, Assault Terror): unique crowd control only Spirit Masters have.

  • Dispel (Seize Magic): removes all enemy buffs and deals huge burst damage, plus a silence.

  • Command: Proxy: an insane defensive buff where most of the damage you receive is shared to your spirits.

  • DoTs and debuffs: multiple damage-over-time spells and debuffs that apply a multitude of effects on your target.

  • Burst: Elemental Fusion triggers often to burst your target.

  • Earth Spirit taunt: one of the most powerful crowd controls in the game. Defiance cannot be used against a taunt.

  • Spirits: even if you go out of range, your spirits can still hit the target, dealing massive damage and CC'ing them.

When you learn how to use these tools depending on who you're facing, Spirit Master is unstoppable (unless you get giga wallet gapped :) ).

2.2Playstyle & combos

The fear game

1Strategy 1

Hold your fear (Soul's Cry) until you get CC'd, so your Defiance chain-fear goes first. If the fight lasts, wait out Tenacity (7 seconds) before using Soul's Cry.

2Strategy 2

Use your fear first, if you have the confidence and the stats to land it.

Jointstrike: Corrode

Very powerful against classes with a lot of sustain (Cleric, Chanter, Gladiator, Ranger) thanks to its −60% healing reduction and near-30-second DoT duration. Before you cast it, apply Curse and your other DoT effects first so it cannot be cleansed with a healing potion.

Seize Magic (dispel)

Pay attention to enemy buffs. Particularly useful against Gladiators and Clerics, since it can dispel their invulnerability skills. Also very strong against Rangers right after they use their buffs, since those provide a lot of their protection and damage.

General principles

You need to know the other classes as well as you know your own. Spirit Master has a high entry burst with consistent damage output, the ability to kite, and the tools to protect yourself from engages. Use your dash with care: save it to dodge important engages or skills like the Sorcerer's meteor, which ignores evasion and block.

Brief

A kiting build that wins by outlasting: Protected Soul and Indomitable Dedication arcanas, Constitution and Status Effect Resist on every armor piece, and four Lv-20 musts. The five-piece Season 1 set lands Defiance and Cold Shock on 20; Elemental Fusion (18) and Jointstrike: Curse (16) are the two to chase on the rolls.

Strengths

  • By far the tankiest of the ranged DPS classes
  • Fear: crowd control only Spirit Masters have
  • Seize Magic strips every buff, bursts and silences

Weaknesses

  • Less mobility than a Ranger, less burst than a Sorcerer
  • Timing-dependent: a skill used too early or too late loses the fight
  • Fear is control, not a kill tool

Opening a fight

Opening

  1. If you get engaged on: Instand defiance. Be patient with using Command Proxy for the follow up engage.
  2. If you are doing the engage: Pop your offensive buffs (Benediction + Kaisinel's Power)
  3. Engage with earth spirit and use Jointstrike: Curse for debuffs and to bait out the use of a healing pot. + Summon Ancient Spirit
  4. Use Corrode when confident the user used a healing pot and proceed with your rotation + Use Soul's Cry (Fear) when earth spirit does not land a CC or when their defiance is used by rooting them with Dimensional Control

The fear game and dash discipline hold for every PvP build: they live in The fear game and General principles, above the builds.

Watch for

  • Corrode

Against sustain classes, apply Curse and your other DoTs first so Corrode cannot be cleansed with a healing potion.

  • Seize Magic

Pay attention to enemy buffs. Dispel invulnerability skills, or a Ranger right after they buff.

  • Command: Proxy

Most of the damage you receive is shared to your spirits for 7 seconds. Use it when an Assassin engages or a Sorcerer freezes you.

Strengths & weaknesses

Strengths
  • By far the tankiest of the ranged DPS classes
  • Fear: crowd control only Spirit Masters have
  • Seize Magic strips every buff, bursts and silences
  • Earth Spirit taunt: Defiance cannot break it
  • Spirits keep hitting when you are out of range
Weaknesses
  • Less mobility than a Ranger, less burst than a Sorcerer
  • Timing-dependent: a skill used too early or too late loses the fight
  • Fear is control, not a kill tool
  • Gear checks still apply (unless you get giga wallet gapped)

Matchups

Seize Magic dispels their invulnerability. Corrode's −60% healing reduction cuts their sustain.

  • Templar

  • Assassin

When they engage, Command: Proxy shares the burst with your spirits for 7 seconds.

  • Ranger
    needs No Proxy / Utility

Dispel right after they buff: those buffs carry much of their protection and damage. Corrode against their sustain.

  • Sorcerer

Proxy when frozen. Save your dash for the meteor, which ignores evasion and block.

  • Spirit Master
    Not written yet
  • Cleric
    needs No Proxy / Utility

Dispel their invulnerability. Curse first, then Corrode, so a potion can't cleanse it.

  • Chanter
    needs No Proxy / Utility

A sustain class: Corrode's −60% healing reduction and near-30-second DoT.

Arcanas

These arcanas are Item Level 90, all Legend. Season 1 has no Libra slot, so the set fills five slots and splits 3 / 2: you run both 2-piece bonuses and neither 4-piece.

With five pieces, Jointstrike: Curse stops at 16 (Parchment +2 is the only source; no ring carries Curse) and Elemental Fusion at 18 (Parchment +2 plus both rings). Defiance and Cold Shock land on 19 and Combustion on 20, so in Season 1 Curse and Elemental Fusion are the two to chase on the five pieces' rolls.

Soul-binds

Each piece's soul-bind rolls in priority order. Until High Commander gear reaches Global, the value runs from that stat's max on Archon Decanus (iL 62) to its max on Archon Tribunus (iL 94). Skill lines are always +1. PvP pieces roll 4 lines plus the stone today; High Commander brings the 5th.

Stats & skill levels

Where it all lands. Computed from this build's presets: skill points and Daevanion boards give the base level, arcanas and soul-bind lines add to it, and the table sums every stat source the data covers.

Changelog

Maintained per patch: what the balance patch changed for the class, and which sections were updated in response. Newest first.

  1. Builds now render from the edition file

    • Builds rendered from the edition file: the PvE and PvP chapters now end with Builds, one tabbed sheet per build from skills to stat totals, rendered from the Global edition file that the builder edits. The sheet replaces the hand-typed build sections, and Opening a fight now sits in the PvP sheet on the How it plays tab.
    • Every old link still lands: a link to a former build section opens the default build of its mode on the right tab, at the part of the sheet that replaced the section.
    • Correction to the 25 Sep entry: the Genus Insight boards are no longer listed separately. Cogni, Fera, Natura and Variant carry the same picks, so the Genus Insight tab shows them as one board next to the Special board.
  2. Global edition started from the TW / KR guide

    • Copied from the TW / KR guide (updated 2026-09-16) as the starting point for the Global client, which launches on Season 1.
    • Season 1 only: 4 stigma slots and no Libra (Scales) in either arcana set. The skill-level totals are recomputed without it: Summon: Water Spirit 19, Mental Focus 32, Spirit Strike 31, Element Unification 28 in PvE; Elemental Fusion 18 and Jointstrike: Curse 16 in PvP.
    • Left out: the TW 6-slot stigma note, the 5th-slot Corrode option, and the endgame BiS wording and link.
    • Genus Insight set up for the Global boards: no Global slot can roll Double Chance, so the five boards (Cogni, Fera, Natura, Variant, Special) are listed separately with their Global picks and Heroic ranges, plus min / median / max totals.
